Oribe was founded in 2007 by Cuban-American celebrity hairstylist Oribe Canales. The brand is widely regarded as a pioneer in the ultra-luxury hair care category. The brand is present in around 40 markets mainly in Europe and the US. In 1987, Oribe opened his first salon in New York City. Oribe has been described as a very bold and experimental hairstylist. He does tri-colors and very "outside" hairstyles. Oribe's career took off in the early '90s when he opened a salon in Elizabeth Arden's Fifth Avenue in New York City.
