The lekha is meant to foster a connection between the artisan who makes the piece and the person who welcomes that piece into their home. We work largely with women's empowerment groups in India, designing prints and silhouettes, and employing artisans in rural Indian communities. In villages where men are traditionally the breadwinners and heads of households, helping women achieve economic independence can bring about change, build confidence, self-esteem and ultimately freedom.
