In late 2015, Boy Smells began experimenting with candlemaking in the Los Angeles kitchen of co-founders and partners Matthew Herman and David Kien. Herman and Kien—two fashion veterans working in design (Herman) and product development (Kien)—set out to make things they wanted to use every day that were sleek, essential, and easy to use.
