L'OCCITANE, the full name of L'OCCITANE EN PROVENCE, is an international retail enterprise specializing in the manufacture and sale of personal care products and household products. Its main production base is located in Manosque, France.
The company was founded in 1976 by Olivier Baussan, who wanted to build a company that would preserve and celebrate the traditions of his native Provence. The company name L'OCCITANE means "woman from Occitania" in French. L'Occitane hopes to "become an international model that promotes Mediterranean comfort and well-being by providing unique personal care and home products", and takes "comfort and pleasure", "authenticity and purity" and "care and respect" as its corporate philosophy. On May 7, 2010, L'Occitane was listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, becoming the first French company to be listed in Hong Kong. In December 2018, the World Brand Lab released the "2018 World Top 500 Brands" list, and L'Occitane ranked 493.
